- The act of applying/crossing one context or techniques to another is the use of applying past knowledge to new situations
- Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations is a technique I offend use in my daily life.
- An example is that I use my prior knowledge learning from my Project Scheduling course to organize my schedule and set priorities on my studies, homework and work related activities
Striving for Accuracy
- Striving for accuracy is having a growth mindset, willing to improve - such as proofreading - and setting goals for yourself and then completing them.
- Yes I experience Striving for Accuracy on a daily basis.
- When completing an assignment, be it math or an essay, double checking if I have done the problems correct through the books answer key will help me catch and learn if I missed a step in a problem. While, proofreading an essay or a blog post will help me determine if I have a misspelled word I need to check.
Persisting
- Persisting is the success of countless of failures. Without failing, one does not know how to improve on mistakes and can not progress. Persisting through failures and recognizing weaknesses and turning them into strengths brings success.
- I use persisting through out my daily life.
- When stumbling on a math problem, it is good for me to go back step by step of the start of the problem to see where I made an error. By finding that error, I am more cautious with my future problems in not making the same mistake in a certain step of a problem.
I am very impressed with the examples of how you applied these habits of mind to academics, especially the sections of persisting and striving for accuracy. Even when math seems difficult, you continue to seek improvement on your error and go back to check, which is great. As someone who would often struggle in math, I find your persistence to become better to admirable. Great job and continue to practice these life habits.
